That's why we started Pet Let. We now live and work at Encounter Bay, and we manage our properties personally. We have the perfect property for every visitor, from budget beachfront properties that are only a few years old, to properties with their own beach, to executive esplanade properties. All our properties are fully fenced, so your pets can roam freely... and safely! We know that pets are part of the family, and they should be treated as such. Unlike some other options on the market, we offer truly cat and dog-friendly accommodations. Your furry friends are welcome to be inside with you, so they don’t have to miss out on any of the fun. Pet Let offers comfortable, clean, and modern pet friendly holiday accommodation, so you’d never guess that our properties are pet friendly (except perhaps for the welcome dog bowl of water at the entrance!). We want you and your four-legged friends to have a brilliant getaway on the glorious Fleurieu Peninsula, enjoying West and South Australia's many delights. Our properties are ideally located in the Adelaide area, perched beachside on the glistening Australian coast. This spectacular part of the country provides easy access to world-class wineries, charming cafes and restaurants, and long stretches of white sand beaches.

  • Our aim for our pet friendly beach houses is to create a great space for people to enjoy a wonderful holiday with both their two-legged family and their four-legged family! We have a pooch, Banjo (a Jack Russell X), and a cat (Ella – a moggy!). We take them on holidays whenever we can, so we understand the frustrations of trying to find truly pet friendly holiday homes in South Australia. There are lots of places that say they are “pet friendly,” when what they really mean is you can bring your dog as long as it is small and leave it in the backyard! That sounds to us like “dog-tolerant!” We purchased our first property at Encounter Bay because it suited us and the four-legged members of our family! This is what “Pet Friendly” means to us:
    • We welcome both dogs and cats in every one of our properties.
    • Your pets are allowed inside — they are very welcome to make themselves at home.
    • There is a fully and robustly fenced backyard at each of our properties, and all potential escape routes are blocked for safety.
    • Four of our accommodation options have a reserve or park on the doorstep, so you can very easily take the dogs for a short walk or a leisurely hike.
    • We provide various water and food bowls for dogs and cats (so you don’t need to bring them with you).
    • There is a proper “pooper-scooper” for dealing with dog poop in a quick, easy and sanitary way.
    • Our info pack at the house lists local vets and the regulations regarding Encounter Bay beach access for your dogs (during daylight saving, they must be on a lead between 10 am and 8 pm).
    All you have to bring are your pets’ beds and food! We pay extra attention to cleaning so that, although we are pet-friendly, you won’t know it when you walk into our properties. If there’s anything else you think we haven’t covered, just let us know! We will do our best to make your holiday with us a pleasure!

About Us

Pet Let began life with a single property at Encounter Bay in 2009. We purchased the first property because we had trouble finding a nice, modern, clean property that allowed pets inside.

Plenty of properties said they were “pet friendly,” but when we read the fine print, they said, “pets are not allowed inside.” That didn’t sound very pet friendly to us! If we’d left our dogs outside, they would have knocked the door down to get in, which would never work!

We set about finding a little beach house that we could enjoy, with a plan to rent it out as a pet friendly holiday house when we weren’t using it. The best laid plans… After we did a quick makeover, the bookings took off from day one! It was almost always occupied, and we very rarely got the chance to use it ourselves, so we bought another one.

Pet Lets’ Organic Growth

Pet Let grew organically by adding 1-2 properties per year. In 2013, we moved to Encounter Bay for a sea change and to be able to manage the business ourselves. In 2014, we were approached by other people to manage their properties, so we did! This has enabled us to provide a bigger range of properties to our guests, in more locations, and with a diversity of features.

Once a small side activity, Pet Let now consumes us full-time (seven days a week). The sporty SAAB convertible has been replaced by a very practical dual-cab ute, and our garage is full of spare quilts, sheets, toasters, kettles, glasses, globes, mattresses, and much more!

Our mission is to provide the best possible holiday experience for our guests and their fur kids. Our team works together to ensure that every property is as ready as possible for each arriving guest.

We have a growing team of cleaners, linen suppliers, maintenance managers (plus a big network of tradies), as well as dedicated teams for guest services, operations, accounts, process improvements, and web development.

Our Properties

Our properties span from Carrickalinga on the west coast of the Fleurieu to Goolwa on the south coast and include Encounter Bay, Victor Harbor, and Port Elliot. We will add new properties in the coming months and welcome discussions with holiday house owners who are interested in working with us.

We've Been Featured!

The 'SA Weekender' TV show (5.30pm Sundays on CH7) did a segment on pet friendly accommodation and they featured Pet Let! The crew filmed at one of our most popular homes ( 18 Franklin Parade, Encounter Bay). The star of the day was ‘Frankie’ the French Bulldog.
