Retro Renovated Beach Shack with 5 Decks – Sleeps 6

This 3BR fabulous holiday home, just 200M from Dump Beach, is one of the original 1960/1970’s shacks.  Rather than knock it down, it has been fully renovated, with the creature comforts bringing it up to the 2020’s. The immediate character has been retained where possible, and the upgrades have been sensitive to its original era but with a touch of the classic beach Hampton style, and then a twist of country France.

This is a small house that packs in loads of extra outdoor spaces plus the Retro Room (see below).  There are three bedrooms, a brand new kitchen with a big island bench that does double duty as a dining space, living room, and renovated bathroom.  Mod cons include oven with air fryer and steamer, dishwasher, coffee machine, reverse cycle AC, ceiling fans, and front-loading washing machine.  There is WiFi with Netflix, plus books and board games, and if you have to do some work while on holidays, there is a laptop-friendly workspace.

In addition to the main house, there is a separate Retro Room where Charlie Chaplin greets you at the door near the outside ‘Charlie’s Bar’. Or kick back with a  drink enjoying a larger second living area tiled in Italian terrazzo tiles and a colourful collection of Pop Art such as Marilyn Monroe or original 70’s abstract art. Amongst ‘the Kitsch ‘ is a 70’s lamp of the Marx Brothers wrapped around a lamppost needs to be seen to be believed.

A unique addition to the property is the original rowboat tied to the back deck (not for use in the water) from the iconic Yilki store in Encounter Bay that used to bob up and down in the ocean in the 70’s.   There are umbrellas that can be moved between the decks, depending on which one you decide to use.  There is also an outdoor shower to wash off humans or dogs after a visit to Dump Beach!

The bedding configuration is:

  • Bedroom 1 – One Queen bed (sleeps 2)
  • Bedroom 2 – One Double bed (sleeps 2),
  • Bedroom 3-  Two Single beds (sleeps 2)

Please note: there are also beds in the Retro Room – they can be used by any of the main house guests but cannot be used for extra guests (ie the max of 6 guests applies).

All bed linen is supplied and the beds are freshly made for your arrival. BYO towels. Please bring your own towels.

The property is completely fenced.  A new side gate has been installed to enclose the back yard (fencing to 1200H), and the front yard is also fully fenced to 900H.  Your well-behaved pets are welcome inside.
